Went there for Mom's early birthday dinner. We spent an hour searching for restaurants at Plaza Indonesia - EX, we didn't really know exactly what we wanted to eat! We actually went to Kitchenette and Pizza E Birra (my personal favorite) but it was too crowded, I suggested The Goods Dept. Cafe but my parents thought the place is only for youngsters (they're a pair of cool parents by the way). We also checked Bistro Baron, but we weren't in the mood for western delicacies. Also, too much pork in Katsusei's menu (and too pricy for a plate of katsu). So we walked to EX, and chose En Dining instead. First time eating there, I was intrigued when I found out that their specialty was Okinawan dining! Not many Japanese restaurants here using that concept, I guess.

Let's see the dinner, shall we?

Dad's salmon belly and mackerel sashimi. LOOK AT THOSE FABULOUS LAYERS OF FAT. I thought the mackerel was cooked - at least steamed, because they didn't taste raw!

Mom's Okinawan Tofu Steak, the gravy was tasty! Watch out for the price, though.

my sister's Curry Katsu. my all-time favorite, but I ordered cod roe spaghetti instead ;___; Probably the most expensive curry katsu I've ever tasted (Rp 90k each, doesn't include sets with refillable ocha, miso soup and salad like the one at Taichan), it was also come with a good taste. Seriously, this one's wonderful!

my Cod Roe spaghetti. I never, ever regret the fact that i ordered this instead of curry katsu. totally loved the wafu cream sauce, mixed with cod roe! Reminded me of Pasta de Waraku's, they also got one there, right? I thought i wouldn't be full eating this but I was wrong, I could barely move. My new favorite.

our Kimchi Wings. didn't taste kimchi-ish at all, or rather gochujang (Korean spicy red pepper paste) flavored. It was just spicy, but didn't leave any unforgettable impressions. Quite pricey for 2 chicken wings, around Rp 36k.

our dessert, Honey Toast with vanilla ice cream and blueberry sauce. had a really good time eating this, I especially loved the crust!

my suggestion would be.............take your parents to eat with you, if you know what I mean.

THIS IS A FOOD POST: Kemang Fish & Chips

(ps: This was happened before the Ramadhan month.)

Dinov and I got nothing to do on a hot, humid day at Kemang. We actually visited 707 for their Melissa shoes (they got up to 70% Melissa shoes on sale) but left disappointed because i didn't want to spend 500k on rubber shoes. then we walked to McDonald's for coffee (we almost went to Casa but again, we didn't want to spend so much money on coffee so we ended up there). Had been craving for fish & chips all day, we decided to walk to the legendary Kemang Fish & Chips, in front of the Wimo building. Before it, we went to a pet shop on a halfway there and waited for my driver to pick us up (yes, the restaurant was a bit far by foot).

3 sizes of fish n chips. if I'm not mistaken, the prices have gone so much pricier when I visited. source: thediplomaticwife

Their fish & chips are available in 3 kinds of portions; Sailors (small), Captain (medium), and Admiral (large). We felt like we couldn't eat so much at that time so we only ordered one Captain fish and chips. oh, the place was so small and hot and at the corner of the street so it might not be the coziest place to hang out - because it was intended for take-away, not eating in.

probably the best fish & chips i've eaten in years--the fish wasn't amis and had beautiful layers beneath the batter, they use real chips (i mean, not french fries), and the tartar sauce was just perfect. Combine these three elements, and they'll send you to the fish n chips heaven.

Next time I'm eating there, i'll make sure i order Captain (or Admiral) for myself.

THIS IS A FOOD POST: Ebisu Curry

Remember the restaurant I mentioned in my last post? so here it is, I actually visited Ebisu before having red velvet at Convivium! had lunch there with 3 of my best friends, we certainly had a good time together. Ebisu Curry is located in the same building with Starbucks Melawai and Kamome, Japanese supermarket; next to the first Ramen Sanpachi 38.

the place was not too big, not too small, but made enough for having people eating in at lunchtime and neatly decorated.

E (small), Bi (medium), Su (GIGANTIC- i mean large)! fellow curry katsu maniac out there, did it ever cross your mind to order the Su portion?

the menu. I ordered Indonesia original sauce curry, E (small), with curry katsu.

gorgeous. the most authentic curry katsu i've ever had, too bad it wasn't that spicy! the katsu wasn't too oily, which is a good thing!

Dinov's ebi curry!!! i thought the shrimp would be like any usual tempuras but i was wrong!

i ate them as snack and topping for my curry~ apparently, snacking on garlic won't do any justice to your breath.

personally, i think the price for one small plate of curry katsu in Ebisu was quite expensive -- it cost me 60k-75k plate. the price is depending on what size and topping you order, but fortunately, you don't have to order a drink if you think a refillable lemon mineral water is enough ;D they also sell curry (around Rp 40k) to take home, a la Japanese instant curry. all you have to do is put the pack in a boiling water!

THIS IS A FOOD POST: Red Velvet Edition

I've been eating at new places this holiday, i think making some comparisons between similar or the same food would be fun -- take this lightheartedly as a subjective review from me! for the first edition, i will be reviewing everyone's favorite cake at the moment: red velvet (cup)cake which tastes like chocolate when in fact, the cake itself is red. (ps: i ate 2 cakes when writing this post)

The reddish-brown color of the cake originally was from a reaction of the cocoa powder with an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk, however red food coloring is often added especially if the cake does not contain chocolate. (wikipedia)

on to the 1st place: Souly's Butter Kitchen.

Souly's Butter Kitchen is located in front of KFC Kemang. i love this mini-cafe's ambiance! too bad the place is too small that I had to hit everything around me. for the red velvet cupcake, i think it was nice. the mascarpone cheese topping was OK but didn't do any justice to save the cake.

I'm in love with Convivium! the ambiance there is really homey, definitely the place where you want to spend the evening with your loved ones. haven't tried their main course though - i went there just after i had my lunch at Ebisu Curry (I'll post about it soon!) so basically we only had afternoon tea there.

my personal favorite for red velvet cupcakes actually goes to Serradella (I had it at Brightspot Market, now available at The Goods Dept.) but Convivium's own cake is absolutely delish! the cake was moist, the slice was big enough for two, and I won't forget how gorgeous the topping was! it was quite unusual to have coconut on the top of your red velvet cake, I think.

PS: I haven't tried other places such as Tea Party Cupcakes or Sugar High, but i will definitely write about them once i get to taste theirs!

held at La Moda Cafe, Plaza Indonesia. I forgot the date, my bad! as one of Spain's biggest clothing brands, Stradivarius has the same vibe as its competitor, Mango.

3. Nikicio Mixte Vol. 06 Presentation
held at The Goods Dept. as usual. I didn't get to see the presentation because of Jakarta's traffic :( bad traffic, bad! as you can see below, black and other dark colors are dominating the collection. some items are see-through so you may need a good pair of underwear to be worn beneath them. luckily, they got underwear set! i personally love them (don't get me wrong) because they're really useful and the bra top can also be worn as a cropped top! pair it with high waist pants and you're good to go~ surprise, surprise! they're also a two-piece swimwear!

my Mom ordered Homemade Grandma's Iced Lemon Tea. I thought this is a completely weird combination, you know...... vanilla ice cream with iced lemon tea? and mint leaves? but it was good though.

wait is this Nutella Shake or Hazel-Nutty??? but if i visit SoHo again, and i don't have enough money to buy their main course, i will definitely order this BECAUSE IT'S JUST TOO GOOD. it's like....... drinking my favorite spread. very recommended for you hazelnut sucker.

my sister ordered Hot Green Mint Chocolate. i thought the drink would be like all green and taste like chocolate, lol. but it turned out to be like this! to me, this one is like the epitome of hot chocolate with mint ;____;

my dinner! it's Lamb Shank with Thick Red Curry Sauce. curry as always lol. it has generous portion and i thought I got hypertension as soon as I finished eating it. the lamb shank was really that BIG!

my sister's choice of the night was Herbs Infused Roasted Half Chicken with Potato and Gravy. it was good, and i thought i could eat it 'em all by myself. yeah i know, half a chicken.

Well hello there! I’m writing this while listening to this Japanese relaxing music below, and I don’t know why I’m listening to it because it’s supposed to make people sleep. And I’m feeling sleepy right now.

Lol what a random beginning! So….. I’ve always wanted to write a post like this, something to reminisce the past year like people always do on twitter or their blogs in the end of the year. But I didn’t have time (writing this kind of post) because I got so much things to do (watching videos, fangirling, etc etc) (HAHA) But then I thought, today will be my last day of being 17, and 17 to me is quite remarkable. Because you know what….. some of my birthday wishes came true.

Lo and behold………….. the unforgettable events from January 28, 2010 - January 27, 2011!

1. My Sweet 17 birthday bash

Lol I sound like I’m your typical snob, rich, and spoiled teenage girls from MTV My Super Sweet Sixteen. it was quite unimaginable when your birthday girl was hidden somewhere in secrecy (lol) then TA DAAAAA finally she came out and surprised everyone at the party! The party, at some part, went quite ~garing~, maybe because I was too nervous at that time. But it was fun tho! Everyone there had fun. I’m still mad at the fact that not all my friends could come because of some-maniac-supporters-from-a-local-football-club-making-everyone-got-stuck-in-a-crazy-traffic-that-already-caused-by-huge-rain!

2. Graduated from Labschool Kebayoran Senior High School and got accepted at University of Indonesia (UI)
After months and months of studying at Inten (a course, they have this intensive pre-university program), I got accepted at Faculty of Social and Political Science with major in Communication! It was quite unimaginable to me because I had never seen myself as a person who really, really wanted to enter public universities. I had this “you will study abroad” mindset (and stigma), then BAM! I surprised everyone. April 8, 2010. UI and Copeland. one of my best days ever. Plus, I quit my major’s orientation period earlier muahahaha.

3. Went to my high school prom and graduation ceremony

The prom night was supposed to be the most epic night of my life but I was sick! Pretty much like eating a wet sandwich, it was really unpleasant.

4. Sounds like a 17 year old spirits: YEAR OF CONCERTS!!

Copeland, Kings of Convenience+Jens Lekman, Jay Park (2 times, lol and he needs the whole point dedicated to him), Vampire Weekend, Mnet Ultimate Live (2PM, 2AM, MBLAQ, B2ST, Miss A). guess , which one (or two) concert(s) was/were scandalous?

5. MET, HUGGED, SHOOK HANDS, TOOK PICTURES, ETC ETC WITH JAEBUM PARK

SHAKING. CRYING. LOOK AT THE MATCHING OUTFIT WE WORE! AND LOOK AT MY HOLEY TIGHTS! Just……….enjoy these pictures. Mission accomplished. I EVEN SAID I LOVE YOU TO HIM!!

6. Went to Bali, and Singapore twice without parents with the same purpose (cough cough kpop groups)

After 6 years, I finally had visited Bali! Went to some well known places, including The Rock Bar at Ayana (ps: I once thought that this is the same Ahmad Dhani’s Rock Bar haha). After 2 years, I visited Singapore twice in 2010, the first one was in September 2010 with Ofelia and December 2010 with Dinov, my sister Fadia and Dinov’s parents. THANK YOU MOM!!!!!!

7. Went to the first and second fashion show in my life

Pretty much self explanatory. Looking forward to be invited to more fashion shows this year. Amen.

8. Got accepted in AIESEC
(I supposed to leave for Samara, Russia earlier this january but lo and behold, they haven’t made my Invitation Letter. Le sigh. After what happened in Russia recently, I am really grateful to Allah because He made me stay in Jakarta. Alhamdulillah.. :’) )

9. Got featured in a magazine
Cosmogirl Indonesia, January edition. Page 81. Yay me!

10. Made my family and friends proud of me in anything. :)
Because that’s what important.

I hope I can reach more goals this year, be a more religious person (since I rarely pray 5 times a day), and be a better person each day. (and lose more weight, of course.)

starting right now, after i typed this post, i will post a section that explains what i would love to wear on red carpet (a girl can dream, right? *wink wink*) but i won't do this like, every monday or every saturday. i will post this section whenever i want and whenever i could!

as an opening to this regular section on my blog, i would love to post about Louis Vuitton Fall 2010! Marc Jacobs did amazing job as usual. this collection is like, waking an inner lady inside me because every piece in this collection is either very girly or ladylike. I would love to wear them when I get older one day! (PS: I'm writing this in my little girl mode, by the way.)

to end my unconsciously endless ranting, here are my picks!

oh, this post also begins my 'music pick of the moment' post too as well! i heard it for the first time on MTV, The Temper Trap had this song on their playlist if I'm not mistaken. It's Unfinished Sympathy by Massive attack, the song first came out in 1991. WHERE THE HELL HAVE I BEEN?? I mean, this song is amazing! I love the string section in this song because it's just too epic like that. this song is a classic.

went to noraebang (karaoke) with the girls! sadly i didn't take any photo of us :|
we went to my mom's office for an ~interview~ about Korean Pop or Korean culture in general because my mom's friend needed it for a new product (still in the talks, by the way). then i went through a whole madness that is Jakarta's after office hour traffic -- all the way to pick up Ofelia at her office and Grand Indonesia! actually we went to Level 1 Project to check out our favorite local designer's newest items. we went to Danjyo Hiyoji's store and i think we met either Rama Dauhan or Dana Maulana..... I didnt know which one hehe. i wanted to take a picture with him and i would have said "pleaseee this is for mah bloggg" but i just talked about their dresses to him instead. I was too shy because he had bule guests with him that night (and i thought if i took a picture with him those bules would think I'm really norak.

I've been craving curry katsu sinced last week and finally i got A SEA OF CURRY!!! I actually ordered spicy curry but it wasn't that spicy tho, if I compare this to the one they have at Sushi Groove. to me Sushi Groove's curry katsu is the spiciest!

Kids Menu, because Ofelia doesnt like to eat too much dinner. the dorayaki was really delicious!

i usually spent the entire Sunday by being a lazy bum all day, but not on this Sunday~

because I ate Lamien for brunch. muahahaha.

We had brunch at Golden Century Lamien in front of Grand Lucky superstore SCBD because mom went to meet her high school friends on a biking... event? but we didn't bring our bicycles nor fixie lol. I had Beef Lamien (far above), it's unusual for me who always crave thick broth food..... the one who has a lot more thicker broth was my sister's.

in my latest post, i wrote that we didn't attend the launching party and went to MOF Japanese sweets&cakes for dinner instead. we were terribly hungry, both of us had not eaten since lunch! a 2 round dinner was very much needed.

NIKICIO FEMME RESORT SHOW: WHITE OLEANDER

I was invited to attend Nikicio Femme Resort White Oleander show! Officially the second fashion show I’ve ever attended in my life! Well, not bad for a newbie fashion blogger (cringes at self for being on a hiatus for along time, this blog was made in 2009!) I got 2 invitations for the show, and the first person to ever crossed my mind at that time was my bestfriend slash partner-in-crime slash traveling partner, Ofelia.

Bloggers were supposedly watching the show by standing, but lucky us! We got seats! And what made us even more luckier, we were at the closest spot from where the models stood after they first came out to the stage.

I’m sorry for my too-standard-and-too-plain photos because I only brought pocket camera with me. MOM I THINK NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME TO BUY ME A DSLR CAMERA (regrets on how sleazy I was to take a photography class when my parents actually offered me to go for it).

I should have worn this.... btw, it's my mom's vintage Samuel Wattimena blouse. cool, huh?

But we ended up having a 2 round dinner at MOF Plaza Indonesia!!!! They’re currently having this promo which only in Rp 55k you can pick any main course and appetizers you want! I think my next post will be…… another calorie packed post. I might turn to be a food blogger.

I can't believe I'm going to Singapore again, for the 2nd time this year! the last time i went there was in September with my bestie Ofelia to see Jay Park's fanmeet (and we met him personally at meet&greet!), this December I'll go to Singapore again with my sister Fadia and other bestie Dinov........... to see 2PM and other Kpop artists in a concert titled Mnet Ultimate Live Singapore. I'm a good Asian :3

due to my upcoming trip, I will list down some of good-looking food i ate there. here we go.......

Prawn something-something, S$ 9, The Connoisseur Concerto Citylink Mall City Hall, had to share this with Ofelia for dinner because we didn't feel really hungry (lies. we didn't want to spend much money anymoreeee ;__;)

SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATE ABOUT JFW!!! so apparently this was the 1st fashion show i've ever been to. it showcased APPMI fashion winners(? pardon, will edit this post soon after i get the right info) I was overwhelmed ;___;

the show was good, but many of the clothes weren't fulfilled my taste because it was too glam or too grand or too haute couture so you probably wouldn't want to wear it in real life. actually i really wanted to attend Cleo Fashion Awards but it was too late at night, although i didn't have any class the next day because Barack Obama gave a public lecture at my campus ^__^V

i should have posted my first experience attending Jakarta Fashion Week but I'm now writing from my sister's laptop and I'm too mager (males gerak, lazy to move? lol) to copy the pictures haha. so here I am, writing a review about one of my favorite Indonesian designer, Nikicio who's down for a collaboration with Centro Department Store to launch this line, Nikicio For Centro. pictures above are some of my picks in the collection. I'm liking it so far, the clothes are really classy with basic color everywhere including nude - my favorite tone of all time! really looking forward to buy some! *brb checking my ATM and begging to parents*

unfortunately, i find some items are still quite expensive or at the same level of price like their NN:02 collection, like 4 Color Rayon Big Stole (the one that looks like a big shawl) costs Rp 189.000. Maybe the length and quality makes it more expensive than I expected before.

so, i got accepted in AIESEC. OMG i was like "i screwed up my interview test! my spoken english suck nuts!" haha but I'm really thankful, it's been my dream to explore the world! to live abroad! my senior already offered me an internship in St. Petersburg, Russia! OMG WANT! IN JANUARY 2011! IT'S FREEZING AS HELL WITH ITS MINUS MINUS TEMPERATURE THERE! I MIGHT BE CELEBRATING MY 18TH BIRTHDAY THERE!

i have to list down my top 3 countries of preference, so here they are:

1. Russia

Russia, my obsession since i was 6. other kids listened to Westlife, but my world was Tchaikovsky. my name derived from Russian name Nadezhda, means hope. my favorite model, Sasha Pivovarova is a Muscovite (people from Moscow). but, you know....winter in Russia........my parents are quite against me for this. hu hu hu.

2. Turkey

everything about this country is beautiful. enough said. i visited Turkey in 2008 and have been always wanting to go back. i remember this guy who sold bracelets at Grand Bazaar Istanbul, named Burak, he gave me his email and his number! my friends thought he had a crush on me bawww so sweet and i even added him on facebook.

3. The Philippines

LOOOL HE'S THE ONLY REASON WHY I PICKED THE PHILIPPINES. haha just kidding! he's my bestie's (pun, it's Jay Park's song) crush (but the sad thing is he's taken already :'( ). i've always been interested in jeepney, jollibee, and dried mangoes. Daniel Jerome (the person above) and Chacha Malone from Art of Movement (AOM) are Pinoys, and Andrew Baterina from SoRealCru as well.

she's like, everytime we went to Aksara or Kinokuniya she'd stop by in front of fashion book section and ask me "are you interested in this?" or "have you read it? it's Coco Chanel!" and she bought me The Teen Vogue Handbook for my bday present! last week i fell asleep in front of TV and woke up to this. it's The One Hundred by Nina Garcia and it's really useful for those who are still finding their own quintessential pieces. i'll post pics of my books later! hyperlink-ed because i had to.

i'm considering to make my room as a fashion library, got some good stuff to share with you guys. i have complete editions of Teen Vogue from December 2006, Nylon, and Vogue (mom bought it half the normal price jsyk). if youre interested, tell me tell me ttttell me!

I’ve never date, have never gone out with a boy but I’m the type of person who quite easily having a crush on opposite sex. This is why I have a good amount of time to fangirl Korean boybands. There, I said it! I love Kpop and sometimes listen to Jpop as well. Kpop doesn’t make me any less cooler, I’m still the same girl who listens to Mew and Crystal Castles. I don’t care if everyone told me to stop watching Korean videos on youtube, this is my life and I have full control of it. I’m happy because of it, real talk. I’d rather be happy and laugh my ass off watching shows on KBS rather than smoking and drinking because I’m influenced by some hippies (or hipsters).

Thank God I got accepted at FISIP UI, they even have a Korean restaurant!
End of blabbering, I want you to listen boy, my first love story!

I was much of a VIP (Big Bang fanclub) back then when I read an Allkpop’s article about a new TV show called Wild Bunny, it turned to be 2PM’s own TV show. I knew 2PM that time but didn’t have any interest on them (and I regret it until now). Then, I asked my friend Monik about 2PM, she was a huge fan of them back then. She said the first episode is freaking funny, they parodied 2NE1’s Fire and went to noraebang (karaoke). Can you imagine 7 guys in a noraebang room? It must be hella crazy and yes, the first episode is hella crazy!

2PM then

I fell in love with them after watching few episodes. I fell in love with Jaebum, the leader, because he’s so random (and hot) and the maknae (youngest), Chansung, because he’s really handsome! They’re real unlike other idols, and they’re really close with each other. I ditched Big Bang for quite a while because they were promoting in Japan :p

I enjoyed waiting for new episode of Wild Bunny every week and was smiling ear to ear when subbing team had subbed one! Until that day came. September 4, 2009. The day Jaebum left 2PM for Seattle, his hometown. It was on Ramadhan month and I cried my lungs out without worrying my fasting.

I thought he was going to come back, and us fans had been waiting for him for about 5 months. On February 25, 2010, JYPE (2PM’s company) announced his complete withdrawal from the group. I cried for 4 days and 4 nights this is no lie!! It was so devastating, two days after his complete withdrawal announcement 2PM and their company held a fan conference and it turned out to be disappointing. It was reported that the remaining members’ attitude towards fans was horrible. I was disappointed and I even decided to quit liking 2PM! But some personal reasons made me stay in this fandom, forever kekeke.

To be honest, despite my unending love for 2PM I still think that I’m more of a Jay (yes, it’s his American name) supporter. I was excited when 2PM’s latest MV came out but I’m more thrilled when Jay uploaded his first video to his youtube account and made a twitter! I even cried when I tweeted him! I think I have never felt anything like this before, I mean, being a huge fan of an artist. To be a Jay Park’s fan is the most amazing thing ever happened because he’s really affected my life, in a good way. C’mon, who doesn’t want a hottie who can sing, dance, and rap while he’s a family man and funny in an adorkable, sexy crazy way? :)

Hmm, sekarang gue nulis ini dengan iPod di telinga. entah mengapa gue jadi pengen banget dengerin lagu diatas, yang biasanya gue skip kalau lagi dengerin iPod. lalu pikiran pun melayang ke bulan Juli 2006, tepatnya di I-Lan, Taiwan. jujur, lagu ini membuat gue teringat akan betapa suramnya gue disana. bukannya kenapa-napa, tapi kalau boleh ngaku, gue di tahun 2006 (agak) jauuuh berbeda dengan gue di tahun 2009.

gue mungkin masih agak2 down after my parents got divorced. dan gue nyadar banget kalau i was hard to socialize. i was a quite girl, and it really means that i was too shy-even to talk to my junior. but i've finally found some close friends in my group, and we were in the same room. oiya, waktu itu gue berpikir (bukan cuma gue sih) ada satu teammate yang sangat, sangat mendominasi. ngambek dikit, haduuhh seremnyooo!

nah, maksud gue nulis ini adalah untuk sekedar mengingatkan gue akan masa-masa itu, and i've been through it and here i am! okelah dulu gue pemalu, pendiam, dan cuma ngekor doang, tapi sekarang berbeda. gue udah cukup berani untuk speak up for myself, dan menjadi orang yang jauuh lebih sociable dan (maybe) humoris. semua orang butuh waktu untuk berubah, iya kan? siapa tau, salah seorang temen kita yang jarang ngomong di sekolah, beberapa tahun lagi bakal menjadi orang yang sangat sangat dicari!

btw, kenapa bahasa gue jadi begeneeehh? oh gue tau, soalnya kl gue di kantor nyokap suka tiba-tiba kebanjiran inspirasi jadinya gini deh hahah
